    • Shuttle Service: Many hotels offer shuttle services from the airport.

Travel Requirements

Please remember that Canada is an international destination! You will need your passport to enter Canada. While visitors with U.S passports do not require visas or eTAs, visitors with other passports may need to apply for an eTA online before flying into Canada. Don’t worry, it’s quick, inexpensive and easy. Check if you need an eTA here.

Visitors from outside of the U.S  (including Brazil) may also require a visitor visa to enter Canada. Make sure to factor in the necessary time to obtain a visitor visa if necessary. Check if you need a visitor visa here.

Additional Tips

Check the Specific Visa Requirements: Visa requirements can change depending on your country of citizenship, so be sure to visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website for the most current information and instructions.

Plan Ahead: During busy seasons (like summer and holidays), Visa processing can take longer, so give yourself plenty of time.

Canadian Laws: Canada has different laws from the United States, including import/export laws. Please be mindful of how tariffs may affect what you can bring in and out of the country. Canada has strict firearm laws. Please don’t try to bring a gun into Canada. It's just easier that way. We really don’t want any guns at our wedding anyways.

Where to Stay

Vancouver has a wide variety of accommodations, including luxury and boutique hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, and Airbnb/VRBO. Please note that due to local regulations, Airbnb and VRBO options can be limited.

Additionally, please note that the cities of North Vancouver and West Vancouver are suburbs of the city, and not part of the city itself.

Things to Do in Vancouver

While you’re in town, be sure to explore some of Vancouver’s sights and experiences:

  • Stanley Park: A terrific urban park featuring scenic walking trails, beaches, and views of the mountains and ocean. You can walk or bike around the famous seawall, or check out the world-class Vancouver Aquarium

  • Granville Island: A vibrant cultural district with artisan markets, local galleries, and tons of delicious food options. Chloe used to work here! Come with reusable bags for delicious produce and other snacks. Don’t miss Lee’s Donuts, either.

  • Vancouver Art Gallery: This downtown art museum houses an extensive collection of Canadian and Indigenous art, as well as special exhibitions.

  • Museum of Vancouver: The largest civic museum in Vancouver and the oldest in Canada. Located in the beautiful Vanier Park, with walking trails that lead to Kitsilano Beach, Granville Island, and sections of the seawall.

  • Whale Watching: Do you like whales as much as we do? September is a fantastic month for whale watching in Vancouver, especially for spotting orcas, humpback whales, and gray whales. Many tours depart from the Vancouver Harbour and Granville Island. Bring warm clothes and layers!

  • Visit UBC: Our Alma Mater! UBC has a big and beautiful campus with lots of interesting sights, including a stunning rose garden with beautiful ocean views. On campus are the Museum of Anthropology and the Nitobe Garden.

    • Museum of Anthropology: MOA is a teaching and research museum with an impressive collection of cultural items from around the world, with a special emphasis on First Nations peoples. Don’t miss the totem poles!

    • Nitobe Garden: This beautiful and peaceful Japanese garden on campus at UBC is one of the most authentic outside of Japan.

  • Shopping and perusing Main Street: This is our neighbourhood! Main street has lots of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, record stores, book stores, and fun places to go. We recommend starting around 7th avenue and going south towards 30th.

  • Kitsilano and West Broadway/4th Avenue: Our old neighbourhood from university! Shop boutiques, check out coffee shops, and enjoy the relaxed vibes here.
